Sens. Carper and Kaufman Tout White House Announcement $11 Million for Energy Efficiency Programs Across Delaware

WASHINGTON – Sens. Tom Carper and Ted Kaufman (both D-Del.) issued the following statement today after Vice President Joe Biden and Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced more than $11 million to help local governments across Delaware create green jobs and reduce energy consumption and costs. These new federal dollars for Delaware come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which both of Delaware’s senators recently supported:

“These economic recovery funds will help us implement local projects that reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions while making our homes and offices more energy efficient,” the senators said. “Energy-efficient buildings not only help reduce Delaware’s carbon footprint, they spur the creation of new ‘green jobs.’  This one-two punch – reducing energy costs while creating green jobs – is exactly what we hoped this economic recovery bill would do to improve the lives of Delawareans during the economic downturn.”
