Biodiesel Event at Local Wright Soybean Farm Tour Beebe Health Campus

Georgetown, DE – Senator Tom Carper will head to Sussex County on Monday, June 28, 2004. The Senator will visit the farm of Dallas Wright, a soybean farmer in Millsboro, who uses farm equipment that runs on biodiesel. The Senator will speak with Dallas about the benefits of soybeans and biodiesel, and will drive a tractor that uses biodiesel. Biodiesel is safe, biodegradable and reduces serious air pollutants such as soot, carbon monoxide and air toxins. Earlier this month, the Senator visited the future site of a proposed biodiesel production facility in Clayton. Senator Carper supports the biodiesel plant because he believes that at a time when our country imports almost 60 percent of the oil we use, some of it from nations hostile to our own, we can take oil from Delmarva soybeans, mix it with traditional diesel fuel, and create fuel for more environmentally-friendly vehicles. Senator Carper says it’s a win-win situation for both our local economy and the environment. The Senator will then head to Rehoboth to tour the Beebe Health Campus. The health campus, which opened in September, 2003, offers advanced imaging technology, including x-rays, MRIs, CAT scans, ultrasounds, and mammograms.
