Carper Kicks-off Tax Cut Town Meetings Tour
WILMINGTON, DE – Senator Tom Carper will kick off a three-county “Tax Cut Town Meeting” tour next week to gauge Delaware residents’ reaction to cutting taxes and paying down the debt. “How we cut taxes is quickly becoming the dominant issue for discussion both in Washington and around kitchen tables in Delaware. I want to know what families are saying, and hear what’s on their minds. I’ve always learned best by listening,” Carper said. At public meetings in Newark, Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown, Carper will layout his “litmus test for tax cuts,” discuss President Bush’s tax plan, and seek Delawareans’ opinions of alternative measures. The meetings are open to the public and press. The dates and times of the meetings are: NEWARK – Monday, February 19, at 7:00 pm at the Newark YWCA on South College Avenue. WILMINGTON – Tuesday, February 20, at 7:00 pm at Mount Pleasant High School Auditorium, 5201 Washington Street Ext. DOVER – Saturday, February 24, from 10:00 am to noon at the Dover Public Library GEORGETOWN – Saturday, February 24, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Delaware Technical and Community College, Jack F. Owens Campus, in the Student Services Center cafeteria.
