Sen. Carper Reacts to President Obama’s American Jobs Act Address

WASHINGTON – Tonight, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following reaction to President Obama’s address on the American Jobs Act:

“Tonight, the President has once again charged Congress with redoubling our efforts to put Delawareans and Americans back to work by providing what I refer to as a nurturing environment for job creation. This is something that I’ve been calling on Congress to do for a while now.  In his address, the President presented the American people with a plan that has a simple purpose – to put Americans back to work.

“We need to use this opportunity to rebuild our manufacturing sector and bring jobs back from overseas. We need to use this opportunity to invest in education to prepare the next generation to be competitive in a global marketplace. We need to use this opportunity to repair our nation’s decaying infrastructure, which will create thousands of jobs building American roads and railways designed for the 21st century.

“From cutting taxes for small businesses to creating more job growth, the American Jobs Act is a strong package that merits bipartisan and bicameral support. The American people expect us to work together to help get this economy moving again and to help put Americans back to work. It’s time for Congress to come together and do just that.”
