Sen. Carper Statement on the Sussex County Airport State Funding

WILMINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement on the announcement that the Sussex County Airport will receive a $3.7 million grant from the Delaware Infrastructure Investment Committee for the airport’s runway extension project. Last month, Congress passed the Federal Aviation Administration Modernization and Reform Act, which among its provisions, provides funding for airport improvement projects, like the Sussex County Airport runway extension project.

His statement follows:

“I am thrilled that the Delaware state government has awarded these additional funds to the Sussex County Airport project. This state funding, combined with the federal resources for this project, will help create much-needed job opportunities in Sussex County by allowing existing businesses to grow – such as PATS Aircraft System, which already employs 350 people in Delaware – and attracting new businesses. Through projects like this, we can help foster economic growth and airport accessibility for Sussex County and all of Delaware.”
