Sen. Carper Statement on UD President’s Appointment to Head Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank

WILMINGTON, Del. – Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del) released this statement on the news that University of Delaware President Patrick T. Harker will step down from his position at UD to become President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia on July 1, 2015.

“I will greatly miss working with Pat Harker to move the University of Delaware, the city of Newark, and the state of Delaware along on its path to prominence. He was pivotal in creating the STAR campus – a hub for science, technology and advanced research – from the rubble of the Chrysler auto plant. He was also a true partner in getting the Newark Train Station through the planning stage and negotiations. He has a keen eye for economic innovation, while never losing sight of the needs of his students. He will be missed here in Delaware, but I wish him luck at the helm of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.”
