Sen. Carper Welcomes Federal Disaster Aid

WILMINGTON, Del.  – Today, U.S. Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) welcomed the announcement by President Obama that he signed a major disaster declaration for the State of Delaware in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. This action triggers the availability of Federal funds which could help cover a significant portion of the costs of responding to and recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

“Given the extensive damage that Delaware suffered as a result of Hurricane Sandy, I welcome the President’s announcement and the availability of disaster assistance for the First State,” said Sen. Carper. “These federal resources will go a long way toward rebuilding our communities and helping Delawareans recover from this devastating storm.  I would like to commend the Governor and his emergency management team for all of their work in preparing Delawareans and making sure we get the assistance we need. The Obama Administration also deserves high praise for its decisive and tremendous response to a devastating storm.”
