Sen. Carper’s Statement on Former Senator Joe Lieberman’s Passing

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) issued the following statement following the news that former U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman passed away at the age of 82:

“I thought the world of my friend Joe Lieberman, and I admired him as not just a colleague, but also as a husband and a father. I had the opportunity to chair his campaign effort in Delaware in 2004 which turned out to be a high-water mark in his presidential run. I was privileged to serve with him when he chaired the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs in the United States Senate, and I followed his mentorship on what a Chairman should be when I later served in that role myself – working with both sides of the aisle to get things done. I’ve stayed in touch with him over the years and will very much miss him.”
