Senator Carper Announces New Legislative Assistant

WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) announced the following change to his Washington, D.C. staff.

Jan Beukelman has been hired to be a legislative assistant charged with advising Sen. Carper on financial services, housing and trade issues. Beukelman comes from Rep. Jim Matheson’s (D-Utah) office, where he handled financial services, energy, environment, telecommunications and technology issues. He also previously worked for Rep. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.).

“I’m thrilled to welcome Jan to our office,” Sen. Carper said. “He comes to our team ready to hit the ground running and with great experience in working on these issues that are critical for Delaware and our country. I have the utmost confidence that the skills and expertise he brings to the table will be a big asset for me and for the people of Delaware.”

Beukelman graduated from Grinnell College, earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He lives with his wife, Emily, in Washington, D.C.
