Senator Carper Applauds President Biden’s Budget Proposal

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.), Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, released the following statement on President Biden’s fiscal year 2025 budget proposal:

“Under President Biden, our country has seen historic progress in just a single presidential term. As was made clear during the State of the Union, our economy is growing stronger every day, and we are continuing to set records for job creation thanks to the President’s leadership.

“Today, President Biden laid out a budget proposal that builds on this historic progress, while continuing to be fiscally responsible with American taxpayer dollars. Our nation’s deficit is over $1 trillion lower than when President Biden took office, and this proposal will continue to bring down the deficit by reducing fraud and waste across all government agencies and by making our tax system fairer and more equitable. And thanks to key pieces of legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act, we are on track to reach these budget goals and continue to lower costs to support families across the country.

“This proposal also shows the President is doubling down on his commitment to fighting climate change and protecting our air, land, and water, all while fostering economic growth and supporting jobs.

“I applaud the Biden Administration’s fiscal year 2025 roadmap to empower our communities and continue to grow our economy. Now Congress must work in a bipartisan manner to turn this proposal into action and deliver for the American people.”
