Senator Carper Highlights April 11 Deadline for Summer Internships

WASHINGON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) highlighted the April 11, 2014 deadline for summer internship applications in his Delaware and Washington, D.C.,  offices. The internship role gives students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to support Congressional office staff by addressing constituent concerns, legislative issues and monitoring news outlets for daily developments. Interns may also have the chance to attend events such as press conferences, roundtables, and the Delaware State Fair.

“An internship in a Congressional office presents an opportunity for both a unique learning experience as well as an inside look at the political process,” Sen. Carper said. “I encourage college students or recent graduates, especially Delawareans, interested in a valuable, hands-on learning experience to apply.”

Candidates should possess strong writing and research skills, and a demonstrated interest in American politics and policy.  Preference is given to applicants from Delaware.  Internships are available in the Washington, D.C.,  Wilmington, Dover and Georgetown offices.
