Senator Carper Statement on Shootings in Baton Rouge
WILMINGTON – U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement today on the attacks in Baton Rouge that killed three law enforcement officers and wounded three others.
“I am heartbroken and outraged by the attacks on law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge this morning. The families of the victims of this horrific attack are in my thoughts and prayers, as are the people of Baton Rouge and all of Louisiana as they continue to struggle through this incredibly difficult time.”
“As we continue to gather more information and mourn another horrific attack against law enforcement, we must remember that there is never – under any circumstance – justification for violence against police officers. This must stop. We now mourn three more lives, and pray for the recovery of the three more wounded. We also pray that Baton Rouge and our nation will summon the better angels of our nature and seek common ground on which we can live in peace.”
