Senator Carper Statement on the Senate Passage of the Bipartisan Funding Agreement

The agreement ensures that the federal government will be funded through early 2024

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement after the Senate voted to pass the bipartisan funding agreement, H.R. 6363, which would provide short-term funding for the federal government. The Senate passed the agreement by a vote of 87-11:

“Today, for the second time this Congress, the Senate voted to avert a government shutdown. While I’m relieved that we were able to keep the lights on and continue operations of federal programs, this is no way to govern. This is a band aid of a solution, and much more work remains to be done. We must come together, Democrats and Republicans, to fund the government with a long-term solution.”
