Senator Carper Statement on the Third Senate Passage of a Temporary Bipartisan Funding Agreement

The agreement ensures that the federal government will be funded through early March

Today, U.S. Senator Tom Carper (D-Del.) released the following statement after the Senate voted to pass the bipartisan funding agreement, H.R.2872, which would provide short-term funding for the federal government. The Senate passed the agreement by a vote of 77-18.

“For the third time in six months, the Senate voted to avert a government shutdown and temporarily continue providing Americans with critical government services. And for the third time in six months, we have put a band aid solution on the larger issue at hand. This is no way to govern and we must find a bipartisan path forward to fully fund the government for this fiscal year.”
