Chairman Carper Announces Launch of New Twitter and Facebook Accounts for Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Tom Carper (D-Del.) announced the launch of the Committee’s new Twitter and Facebook accounts. The new Twitter handle, @SenateHSGAC, will be used to deliver up-to-the minute information regarding hearings and events, as well as news relating to Senator Carper’s official capacity as chairman. The Facebook account, found at www.facebook.com/HSGAC, will feature relevant updates, pictures, news articles and announcements from Chairman Carper and the Committee.

“In a world where our daily communication is increasingly digitized and online, social media channels like Twitter and Facebook offer an important space to share news and information in real time,” said Chairman Carper. “The new Twitter and Facebook pages, designated for my role as Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman, will provide people with up-to-date information on the Committee’s hearings, reports, news stories, events, photographs and more. Coupled with the Committee’s bipartisan website, these interactive platforms are part of the Committee’s ongoing effort to help ensure that Americans can quickly and easily access the information they need when it comes to the Committee’s work, while also providing an open forum for ideas and discussion.”

Both accounts – Twitter’s @SenateHSGAC and Facebook’s Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee – are controlled by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman’s press staff and reflect the views of Chairman Carper only. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee website continues to operate on a bipartisan basis.
