Senator Carper to Spend Friday, May 28, 2004, in Sussex County

Visit with Shields Elementary School President’s Physical Fitness Program Winners Tour Beebe Nursing School Medicare Prescription Drug Discount Card Information Session

Georgetown, DE – Senator Tom Carper will spend Friday, May 28, 2004, in Sussex County. The Senator will begin his day at the Richard Shields Elementary School where he will present certificates to the winners of the President’s Physical Fitness Program. Twenty-two students ranging from grades one to five will be presented with certificates. The President’s Challenge Physical Activity and Fitness Awards Program offers presidential recognition and awards for fitness to all participating young people. The program offers a range of fitness levels to show that everyone is a winner in fitness. Senator Carper will then head to the Beebe Nursing School for a tour of the facility. Beebe Nursing School is a diploma nursing program that offers a comprehensive nursing curriculum to prepare graduates for careers in the healthcare profession. Senator Carper will then join Sussex County seniors at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown as he kicks off a statewide tour educating seniors about the new Medicare-Approved Prescription Drug Discount Card. Hundreds of senior citizens will be at the CHEER center to celebrate Older Americans Day.
