Sen. Carper’s New Castle County Schedule — Thursday, October 9th

The Launch of the 2004 Dodge Durango Tour of Delaware Military Academy Charter School

Wilmington – Senator Tom Carper will spend Thursday, October 9th, in New Castle County. He will begin his day helping to launch the official production of the 2004 Dodge Durango. The Chrysler Group invested approximately $180 million in the Newark Assembly Plant in preparation for production of the all-new Durango. The Newark facility was originally built to assemble tanks for the military. At that time, it was considered a state-of-the-art complex. Today, the plant takes the assembly process to new levels through the use of robotics and other forms of technology. Thursday, Senator Carper will also tour the Delaware Military Academy near Newport. The Senator will participate in the school’s weekly standing inspection. He will help inspect and grade cadets on their uniforms and attire. The Delaware Military Academy has over 300 cadets enrolled in grades 9 and 10. It is the first Junior-ROTC high school in the state and one of a handful of such schools in the nation.
