Senator Carper to Read to Wilmington School Children, Adds his Voice to ‘Guest Reader’ Celebration

WILMINGTON, DE – One week after the federal education bill was signed giving Delaware millions of dollars in new federal assistance for reading programs, Senator Tom Carper will be adding his voice to the “Guest Reader” program at Sandy Meredith’s First Grade class in Brandywood Elementary School in Wilmington this Monday, January 14. “Reading is the key to understanding and the foundation for success in school,” Carper said. “My hope is that children will learn that reading can be more than a homework assignment.
