Senator Carper Kicks Off Statewide Tour Educating Senior Citizens about the New Medicare Prescription Drug Discount Card

Sen. Carper will talk with Hundreds of Senior Citizens this Week

Wilmington, DE – Senator Carper invites the media to join him at a series of informational sessions about the new Medicare-Approved Prescription Drug Discount Card. This statewide tour begins this Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the Mamie Warren Senior Center in Smyrna. On Friday, May, 28, 2004, Senator Carper will join hundreds of senior citizens at the “Older Americans Day Celebration” at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown. The visits are opportunities for the media to interview the Senator and senior citizens about the new Medicare Prescription Drug Discount Card. The discount card became available to senior citizens on May 1, 2004, and goes into effect on June 1, 2004. The goal of these informational sessions is to give those people who are eligible for the cards the tools they need to make a decision that is right for them. Over the next several months, the Senator will visit senior centers, nursing homes and assisted living facilities to reach as many people as possible.
