Sen. Carper Highlights Small Business and Agricultural Loan and Grant Workshops for Delawareans

WILMINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) highlighted free workshops for Delawareans seeking information on obtaining loans and grants for small businesses and agricultural producers. The workshops, which are presented by Delaware State University’s Delaware Center for Enterprise Development (DCED), will take place on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Delaware State University Dover Campus, Bank of America Building, room 309.

Workshop topics include: Energy Grant & Loan Funds; Value Added Producer Grants for Farmers; Loan Opportunities for Small Businesses; Business & Industry Guaranteed Loan Program; Delaware Energy Grant and Loan Opportunities.

“These workshops offer Delawareans a great opportunity to learn how they can utilize federal grants to help their small businesses and agricultural productions grow,” said Sen. Carper. “Local businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I commend Delaware State University’s Delaware Center for Enterprise Development for taking an active role in supporting our local community’s economic development. I encourage all interested Delawareans to attend.”

The DCED receives grant funding from United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development through the 1890 Rural Entrepreneurial Program Outreach Initiative to conduct workshops and provide technical assistance that impacts businesses and economic development by creating and saving jobs.
