Sen. Carper on the Passing of Rev. Maurice J. Moyer
WILMINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper joined others around Delaware to reflect on the remarkable life of Rev. Maurice J. Moyer, a Delawarean who was a leader in the civil rights movement and a community activist, upon his passing.
“Rev. Moyer was a great man, an inspiration to us all, and a dear friend,” said Sen. Carper. “He fought for equal rights for Delawareans of all backgrounds throughout his long career, and I’m saddened to hear of his passing. I’m going to miss our yearly birthday ritual where I knew I could expect a $10 bill in the mail on my birthday, and he knew to expect a big bouquet of flowers on his. I greatly admired him and he will always be remembered for his work to obtain justice for all.”
