Carper to Announce Support of Health Insurance Tax Credits

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Tom Carper will join moderate Senators of both parties tomorrow to unveil a plan that reduces by millions the number of uninsured Americans. The bipartisan bill will provide tax credits towards the purchase of health insurance. Carper will join bill authors and prime co-sponsors such as Senators Jeffords (R-VT), Breaux (D-LA), Frist (R-TN), Lincoln (D-AR) and others. Over 40 million Americans do not have health insurance. “The number of Americans living without health insurance is more than fifty times the total number of people who live in the state of Delaware,” Senator Carper said. “President Bush stood up for tax credits as a candidate, and I hope he stands up with us now.
